June 24 Pastor’s Pen
June is coming to an end and the Fourth of July is right around the corner. We’re excited to see the flood of people who come into town for this grand celebration. July also brings excitement to First Presbyterian Church as Jim Owen will be joining us as the new Minister for Music Ministries, we join together in communion on July 5th, celebrate the sacrament of baptism in worship on July 12th, and I hope you all will return at 4p on July 12th to a special worship service for my installation and ordination service as your new pastor.
Preview for this Sunday
But before we get to July, we still have one more Sunday service in June. This Sunday we celebrate the retirement of Art Fischer as the Bookkeeper and Jerry Westerman as the Minister for Music Ministries. Jerry will share some more of his beautiful music with all of us and we will all join together singing Open the Doors as the concluding song.  Sue and Jerry will also be providing and serving coffee during the Fellowship Time after the service in celebration of the support they have received during Jerry’s ministry here.
During the sermon we will be talking about the Woman at the Well in John 4 as we continue our summer series on “Why Church?” We all have those individuals that we would be shocked to see in church. But would God be shocked to see them there? How can we be a church in which all people are welcomed? Come join us this Sunday at 9:45a as we explore what it means to have Radical Hospitality.
May God continue to bless us all,
Pastor Ryan
Middle School and High School SundayNights gatherings begin this Sunday at 5:30p at the church.
We are looking for volunteers to help out with our children’s Summer Celebration Time each week in the middle of the service. It’s a wonderful chance to get to know our younger members as teach them about God’s love. It requires about a half hour of your time and for you to deeply love each of our children.
Beginning this Sunday the children who are excused after the Children’s sermon for their Celebration Time will be returning to the sanctuary during the offering so that they can participate in the Prayer Time and be with us at the close of the service. They will sit together as a group, but if you head downstairs to look for your little one don’t be alarmed if they aren’t there.
