Welcome to the second edition of the pastor’s pen. I am hoping that this email will be useful for us to communicate about what is happening at First Presbyterian and a way for those that are out of town or on vacation to keep up on the going-ons within the church.
The first thing that I must do in this email is clarify something I said in my sermon this past Sunday. When I said that Andy and I had a white picket fence, a dog, and 2.5 kids I was NOT saying that we are pregnant. I was making a comparison with the statistics about the number of children each family has in America. Whoops! Again, we are not pregnant. If you’ve met our children, you’ll easily see that Moira and Kellan are enough children for us right now and they keep us plenty busy.
Now that that’s out of the way… I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet with the Thursday morning men’s breakfast and also the Tuesday morning men’s Bible study. Either group would gladly have more people join them so if you are interested please let me know. It’s a wonderful way to get to know others in the church and has been very helpful for me as I learn more about the wonderful people here.
The women also have a Bible study that meets on Wednesday mornings at the church that is open to new attendees. I also know that there are several other small groups that meet throughout the week and it would be helpful if you lead one of these groups to let me know who is in your group and when you meet.
Preview for this Sunday
This Sunday we will be talking about Abraham and examining how he is understood to be the Father of three religions. We also begin our summer series on “Why Church?” We will examine what it means to be the church and why we need to attend church. If you have ever had any questions about the church please send them my way and I’ll see if I can answer them in a worship service.
May God continue to bless us all,
Pastor Ryan
Office hours for the next month will be somewhat flexible as Tisha is away on maternity leave.
Monday- Office closed. Pastor Ryan’s day for sermon and worship prep.
Tuesday- 9a-4p
Wednesday- 9a-4p
Thursday – 10:30a-4p
Friday – 11a-2p  Pastor Ryan’s day off
A big thank you to Sue Fantini and Sandy Bollinger for filling in while Tisha is out.
Also, as my family and I are working on learning names it would be most helpful if you’d be willing to wear your nametags.  The nametags are hanging on the doors into the Westminster Room and if you don’t find one with your name on it there will be a sheet in the sanctuary to put your name down so we can make sure that everyone has a nametag. Thank you!
