What a wonderful weekend we had this past week. Many of us enjoyed the sun and warmth out at Camp Petosega for the Annual Church Campout and then we celebrated together on Sunday with Jake Tracy preaching. He reminded us about the unique community we have at First Presbyterian that overflows with love, care, and concern for one another. But he also called us out into the community and around the world to share the love of Christ with everyone we encounter.
We will be able to share a little of that love as we celebrate the lives of two of our long-time members in the coming days. We will be having a memorial luncheon for Caroline Nutter on Saturday, July 25 at 11a in the Fellowship Hall. On Wednesday, July 29 at 2p we will celebrate the live of Elena Vaughan during a memorial service in the sanctuary. These two women spent much of their lives ministering in this church and we are looking forward to this time of celebrating their lives.
This Sunday
We will be talking about “thin places”, what they are, what they mean, and how they impact our thoughts on “Why Church?” Plan on joining with us at 9:45a this Sunday as we explore the unique importance of First Presbyterian Church of Petoskey.
We say that children are vital to our church, but we have only had two people sign up to serve during our Sunday School Celebration Time during the service. We need everyone to jump in and help out with our little ones, it is part of the vows we take at baptisms and it is all of our responsibilities to create a safe space for our children to grow.
Jake is taking a group of high school students on a sailing trip over the next several days and we ask for prayer for their safety, that they may feel God’s presence and that they return with lots of stories to share.
