Be prepared for an exciting time of worship this Sunday as we gather with our brothers and sisters from Cross of Christ Lutheran Church on the waterfront for our Worship on the Bay. The service will begin at 10a, so if you show up at church at 9:45a and the door is locked you’ll have time to walk down to the baseball field in time before the service starts.

Following the service we’ll be continuing our time of fellowship by partaking of some boxed lunches provided by the “Bob-In”. In order to reserve your lunch please contact Amy Gillard at: ajgillard@charter.net or 347-4775  BEFORE 4p on Wednesday, Aug 12th. (This is why the Pastor’s Pen is coming out a day early this week…)

Just a reminder that the First Presbyterian Church of Petoskey Facebook page is being updated on a regular basis now. There is a wonderful picture of some of our younger members sitting around a funny looking guy holding up a sign. So if you are on Facebook please be sure to “like” our page as this will be another way that we’ll be providing information.

Upcoming Events
This week we are down on the waterfront for a wonderful joint service with Rev. Sherry preaching on being the Salt of the Earth. The following week, Aug 23, we return to our series on “Why Church?” and examine what it means to be a church that prays.

Be on the lookout for a signup sheet to order the book we will be studying this fall, The Externally Focused Church by Rick Rusaw and Eric Swanson. The church will be ordering in bulk for those that like a paper copy, however, there is also an electronic version available if you would like to purchase it that way for your Kindle or E-Reader.

The Youth will meet again this Sunday evening on the Breakwater and I’ve heard that they are going to be practicing again how to “walk on water”.

Announcements
Please prayerfully consider helping out as a teacher or youth group leader this fall. Our youth and children are central to who we are as a church and it’s up to all of us to help instruct them on what it means to be a Christian. Please talk with Kim or Jake to serve in this way.

Together we serve,
Pastor Ryan
